PC Coaching Team

Our PC Coaching Team is made up of the following coaches

Nick Masson – Head of Performance – Nick has played badminton since the age of nine years where he was introduced to the sport at Glevering Badminton club in Suffolk. His coach Mike Hurlock recognised his passion for the sport and worked tirelessly to improve his skills.

Nick has played at both junior and senior county level for Suffolk and Devon and is currently Head of Performance and Club Chairman at queens bc.

After qualifying from Exeter University as a Physical Education Teacher he taught for a while before moving into leisure management. In 2004 he was voted Male Devon Coach of the Year.

During his coaching career he has worked with some of the very best coaches in the world including Lee Jae Bok, Martin Andrews and more recently Steve Butler.

He regularly works with players ranked in the top five in the country as well as the very dedicated players throughout queens bc.

Nick recognises through his own experiences the value sport brings to players and works to share that enjoyment with the players within the club.

As Head of Performance at the club Nick is proud of the dedicated team of coaches that work alongside him and believes that he has one of the best coaching teams in the country.

Sarah Preece – Queens Head Coach – Sarah has played badminton at senior county level having played for the Devon County First Team. Sarah’s dedication to her training and committment to badminton makes her stand out from the crowd.

Sarah continues to play at the very highest level whilst teaching maths as a full time teacher in North Devon. Sarah’s sessions are fun and enjoyable and the players respond brilliantly to her infectious enthusiasm.

Sarah works hard with the Queens Coaching Team and players to ensure the very highest standards.

Jamie Dawe – Lead Coach – Jamie is an outstanding coach with a real eye for detail. He has a deep understanding of the game even as one of our younger coaches. Jamie works closely with Helen Earnshaw on the Exeter Performance centre coaching academy and with Steve Butler. He has already supported many players at national tournaments as on court coach and has a fantastic future in the sport
